All Six Ms. Marvel Episodes RANKED!
Ms. Marvel is one of my new favorite Marvel characters, but as much as I love her and Iman Vellani's impeccable acting skills, not every episode of her show is made equal and, frankly, not every episode of her show is made so well. Love you, Ms. Marvel, but it wouldn't be me if it weren't a ranking. Now, without further ado, I, Brighton Nelson of The Reel Ranker present to you... All Six Ms. Marvel Episodes RANKED!
6: Episode 4 - "Seeing Red"
This episode is definitely the most convoluted and odd episode of the show. For those reasons (amongst others), this is by far the most awful episode of this show and one of the weakest episodes of anything I've watched on Disney+. This episode cues the two-episode stint in Karachi where, after Kamala arrives, Kareem suddenly shows up and fights here to waste some runtime before he realizes he's got the wrong girl. Kareem then performs an overtly exhausting exposition dump before the two of them go on a wild-goose chase to fend off the Clandestines, and, at the very end of the episode, Kamala is accidentally sent back in time. This episode sounds better on paper than it is in practice. In reality? It's incredibly below average for Marvel, as much as I love seeing a new cultural lens with the stunning setting of Karachi.
5: Episode 2 - "Crushed"
This episode is a blend of a hero montage and an introduction to a cringe-inducing, boringly-boring, blandly-bland love interest, Kamran (one of my least favorite characters Marvel has ever introduced). This episode keeps the style and substance of the first episode and does a decent job of continuing Kamala's origin story with, well, all the typical origin story affairs. Nevertheless, this episode isn't anything all too special—it's just as good as it needs to be as a second episode.
4: Episode 6 - "No Normal"
This episode finally returns to the original plotline after two episodes that felt starkly different. Unsurprisingly, it just feels like a fun and climactic yet typical finale like most of Marvel's shows. With fun action, plenty of one-liners, and a good mid-credits scene, this episode lives up to everything I expect an MCU TV finale to be. It's nothing too special, but it gets the job done.
3: Episode 3 - "Destined"
This episode strikes a perfect balance between the first two episodes of the show and the very different fourth and fifth episodes. This has the fun and style of the first, second, and sixth episodes, as well as the fourth and fifth episode's cultural flair. This episode centers around the Clandestines and the marriage of Kamala's older brother, Aamir. While I still wish the two clashing parts were two distinct seasons, I still found the season rather good, and this episode was able to bring balance to the two in a charismatic and climactic episode. This episode deserves third place on this list.
2: Episode 5 - "Time and Again"
This episode does a much better job than the previous episode in balancing the stylistic throughline than the last episode did, but it's still not perfect. This episode has an interesting backstory that shows the history of Kamala's family and the Clandestines, as well as Kamala's final battle with Namja, which further develops the story of the partition. This is definitely the show's most profound and thought-provoking episode. While it feels offensively disjointed from episodes 1, 2, 3, and 6, it is a beautiful episode and a more-than-monumental step up from its incredibly below-average predecessor, "Seeing Red". Ultimately, with beautiful backstory scenes and a climactic finale, this is my second favorite episode of Ms. Marvel.
1: Episode 1 - "Generation Why"
For some reason, this single episode has so much more fun, style, and charm than all the other episodes. Within the first couple minutes of the show, Ms. Marvel had already become one of my favorite characters of the MCU. This episode is all about Ms. Marvel going to Avenger Con as a superhero fangirl and using a bangle of her grandma's as part of the cosplay. However, she causes havoc and realizes she has superpowers at the convention, starting the story off with a bang. This is such a fun and relatable superhero origin story! There are also few scenes in Marvel (or anything really) that bring a bigger grin to my face than Kamala saying, "it's not really the brown girls from Jersey City who save the world," and Bruno saying, "You're Kamala Khan, you wanna save the world, then you're gonna save the world." Such a great quote. I absolutely love this episode, and while it's simple, this will forever stand as one of my favorite episodes of Marvel TV.
