All Four Avengers Films RANKED!

All Four Avengers Films RANKED!

The four Avengers films are somewhat iconic movies for many reasons, and they are certainly the most pivotal of the MCU films. Two of these movies are brilliant; one is great, and one is not a personal favorite of mine. As my life's sworn duty, I Must rank these films from worst to best in today's article: All Four Avengers Films RANKED!

4: Marvel's The Avengers - B Tier

I get that people adore this film, especially as it was the first true superhero team-up film. In that sense, it's certainly nostalgic. But, putting nostalgia aside, this isn't all that great of a movie, in my opinion. Yes, I love the first time the Avengers assemble, I love the Hulk beating up the Loki scene, and I love the shawarma scene. But, the whole second act? Are we really having the Avengers turn against in the first film when they team up with each other? Not a great plan. I can't say I hate this movie or its plot but with the second act's meandering and the third act's rather generic alien invasion? This is a whole lot less interesting of a movie, in retrospect, and I find myself gravitating toward the other three films a whole lot more. I get the love for this film, but it's hardly a personal favorite MCU movie of mine.

3: Avengers: Age of Ultron - S Tier

I understand this movie has its flaws, but even in its flawed state, it is much more exciting and gripping than its predecessor. Ultron? A top-tier Marvel villain. Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver's introduction? Excellent, especially since the former is one of my favorite MCU characters! The characters themselves? They get more interactions and fun character moments than any other film in the MCU. The other team-up movies spend so much time doing fantastic superhero stuff that they forget to talk to each other and, you know, have some breathing room. This movie also has much more profound themes, many political or thought-provoking. Vision is also created here to combat Ultron for some interesting moral juxtaposition! The moment Captain America starts to pick up Thor's hammer? Awesome. The mindless army? It's much more interesting than the Chitauri from the original.

I also enjoyed how, in essence, this ended up being the only true Avengers movie where the entire team was present for most of the runtime. The comradery aspects, as present in the farmhouse scene, are absolutely brilliant. The whole scene exudes excellent character moments. And, as much as I love dLOki, he's much better used as an anti-hero or reluctant hero, in my opinion—he was way more interesting in later films than in the first Avengers film. In contrast, Ultron was an excellent villain the whole time and one of the best of the MCU. While I love the setup of the first film and how it establishes the team in its third act, looking back, this film's narrative is exponentially better than the original, as scatterbrained and odd as it was at times. In the end,p this film has so much going for it, but its flaws hold it back from being a top-tier MCU.

2: Avengers: Endgame - S+ Tier

Forwardly put, Avengers: Endgame is fantastic. The first act is excellent because it beautifully responds to the Blip and the devastation of all the deaths that happened in the previous film. The second act is tons of fun, as it details how the Avengers go back in time to collect the Infinity Stones of the past to prepare for war with Thanos. The third act is just unabashedly fun and has a climactic payoff that makes for one of the best third acts of all time! This is a perfect ending to the Infinity Saga and a movie that will stay brilliant for decades to come.

1: Avengers: Infinity War - S+ Tier

Whereas Endgame can feel a little slow in the first two acts, this film is fast-paced all the way through and even more emotional. While I can't say anything in this movie is quite as good as the third act of Endgame, the whole is more shocking and emotional; the gruesome ending was excellent, and each attempt of the Avengers to stop Thanos from retrieving the Stones? Awesome stuff here. Concludingly, this is the best Avengers movie in a variety of ways, and it is one of the best of the whole MCU!
